Shirley Strawberry signs copies of her new book The Strawberry Letter: Real Talk, Real Advice, Because Bitterness Isn't Sexy at Barnes & Noble in Philadelphia on 4/6/11.
Dear Steve and Shirley, I am 24 years old in love with a 37 year old. We have been seeing each other for a few months, and I must admit, I am very in love with him. We are also relatives, 4th cousins to be exact. This all just happend out of left field, at first I didn't want any part of it, but the more we started talking and spending time together, the more I fell in love with him. Problem is: he still lives with his "ex" he claims that they are not together, and that he doesn't love her, but states that she doesn't have anywhere to go, he says that he is going to talk to her, but always puts it off. Also, if this becomes more serious, which I want it too, what would we tell our family? Am I dumb for falling in love with him? should I be with him? I am very lost and confused, he states that he loves me, and wants to be with me, but how do I know that he isn't going to do this to me when we are together, if we do end up together? I do not want to get hurt again.. please help! Yours truly, a stupid women in love.
