Everybody is buzzing about Cissy Houston's new book Remembering Whitney: My Story Of Love, Loss And The Night The Music Stopped. Cissy doesn’t hold back. She reveals she was angry her daughter Whitney Houston died alone, and that she thinks granddaughter Bobbi Kris is headed down the wrong path. When Cissy Houston sat down with Oprah, Cissy's son Michael Houston revealed for the first time that Whitney turned to drugs following after him. Oprah said people assumed ex-husband Bobby Brown did that, but Michael set the record straight and talked about the guilt he's working through because of it. Cissy said she never blamed Bobby Brown, but doesn't feel he was good for her daughter.

Actor Laz Alonzo looks great on the latest issue of Jet magazine. I hear his new show Deception, with Meagan Good, on NBC may be cancelled due to low ratings. Despite millions tuning in, major networks don’t care. This show would have done better on cable.
Is a Destiny's Child reunion a no-go at the Superbowl? Michelle Williams has publicly denied reports of her and Kelly Rowland being part of Beyonce's halftime show at Superbowl XLVII (47) in New Orleans
between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. Also at this year's Superbowl, Alicia Keys will be singing the national anthem. The questions for all the singers: Will anybody be lip syncing? Beyonce, in a recent interview, addressed the rumors she used a surrogate to give birth to her and husband Jay-Z's first child. She called the talk stupid, and she also opened up about the miscarriage she suffered before giving birth to her daughter.
In more Beyonce news, she's producing a documentary about her life that will air on HBO February 16th, and she has just signed on as the new spokesperson for Pepsi. The $50 million Pepsi deal includes Beyonce's picture on Pepsi cans with the soda giant sponsoring all her major events. She’s also going to be the cover girl for the March issue of Vogue magazine and for the new issue of GQ magazine.
The 85th Annual Academy Awards take place Sunday, February 24th, and the talent is going to be amazing that night. For the first time in 36 years, Barbara Streisand will be performing. She last performed her hit Evergreen on the show in 1977 and won the Oscar for the song that night. Other Oscar performers include Singers Adele and Norah Jones. The Steven Spielberg movie Lincoln is leading the nominations with Best Director Spielberg, Best Actor Daniel Day Lewis and Best Picture. Also up for awards: Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, Denzel Washington got a nod for Flight and Quvenzhane Wallis. At age nine, Wallis is the youngest Best Actress nominee and youngest African American nominee ever.
Actor Terry Crews (Everybody Loves Chris) is coming back to TV. He’s going to play a police sergeant in a new comedy with Andy Samberg of SNL. Crews recently wrapped up filming on Tyler Perry's movie Single Moms' Club. Crews was last on TV as the husband and step-dad in the TBS sitcom Are We There Yet?
First LL Cool J, now it's Taye Diggs! Diggs and his wife, Actress Idina Menzel, came back from The Screen Actors Guild Awards to find a buglar in their garage. Diggs subdued the man and turned him into police.
Speaking of Taye Diggs, this fall, get ready for The Best Man II. Diggs and the original cast, Nia Long, Terrence Howard, Morris Chestnut, Monica Calhoun, Sanaa Lathan, Harold Perrineau, Jr., Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall, will all reprise their roles to the 1999 surprise box office smash. Malcolm Lee will be back directing. The Best Man II comes out November 15th.
Is American Idol racist? The popular FOX singing reality show is being sued by former Idol contestants who were African American and kicked off the show. They claim they were kicked off the show as part of the racist plot to boost ratings. The contestants are from seasons 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 9.
I also hear that the FOX network may cancel The Cleveland Show. The animated show, a spinoff of Family Guy, is in its fourth season and features the voices of Sanaa Lathan and Reagan Gomez-Preston.
WDAS Morning Man Steve Harvey's Hoodie Awards now has a new name. It's now called The Neighborhood Awards and tickets are now on sale. The Neighborhood Awards are happening August 8th
-11th in Las Vegas.
In more Steve Harvey news, he'll host the The 44th Annual NAACP Image Awards Friday, February 1st on NBC. His wildly successful Think Like A Man got a nomination for Best Supporting Actress (Taraji P. Henson). Actress Kerry Washington of the TV drama Scandal will be getting the President's Award that night. The movies Flight, Django Unchained, Beasts Of The Southern Wild, Red Tails and Good Deeds have all been nominated for Best Picture. Jamie Foxx and Denzel Washington got nominations as well as the reality show X-Factor. ABC's Scandal got nominations as well as the Lifetime TV movie Steel Magnolias with Queen Latifah and Jill Scott. Alicia Keys and Bruno Mars led the way with the music nominations. Trombonist Jeff Bradshaw got a nomination for Best Jazz Album for his latest CD Bone Appetit. Author Jim Smith, Jr. (Mr. Energy) got a literature nod for his book The No Excuse Guide To
Success No Matter What Your Boss Or Life Throws At You.
Lenny Kravitz has produced a documentary, Looking Back On Love, about the making of his album Black And White America. Kravitz says he did the film and album as a way of honoring his family. Kravitz's mom was Actress Roxie Roker who played “Helen Willis” on the long-running CBS sitcom The Jeffersons. Looking Back On Love is in theaters now.
Was that Aunt Viv on the Headline News channel? Yes! Actress Janet Hubert, the original “Aunt Vivian” on The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, was featured as a contributor on Show Biz Tonight on the Headline News channel.
We remember TV Personality Sally Starr. Starr passed away this past weekend after celebrating her 90th birthday. She hosted Popeye Theater on WFIL-TV 6, known today as 6ABC, from 1954 to 1971. She continued work in radio and personal appearances after coming back from retirement. Starr is remembered as a pioneering figure in TV, radio and music from the Philadelphia Golden Age. A public viewing and funeral services are set to begin at 5pm Monday, February 4th at The Constantino Funeral Home in Berlin, New Jersey.
We also remember Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner, who also passed away this past weekend at the age of 69. Sugarfoot joined The Ohio Players in 1964, but it wasn't until the 70's when the band hit their stride with Sugarfoot as lead singer. He'd go on to co-write their biggest hits and helped cement the band in music history as true innovators of jazz, funk and soul. Their hits include I Wanna Be Free, Fire, Sweet Sticky Thing, Skin Tight, Heaven Must Be Like This, Who'd She Coo?, Honey and Love Rollercoaster. After recovering from earlier health challenges, Sugarfoot confirmed to TV One's UnSung that he was leading his own lineup known Sugarfoot's Ohio Players. Funeral arrangements are still pending.
Is the writing on the wall for Soledad O'Brien and CNN? New CNN Boss Jeff Zucker lured ABC's Chris Cuomo over to the network. Reports say Zucker wants to team Cuomo up with Erin Burnett for a new morning show, which would leave O'Brien, the current solo host of Starting Point, in an uncertain situation.
Chris Brown and Frank Ocean had a fight in a parking lot over a space and now that fight may have legal consequences. Reportedly, Ocean wants to press charges and that could mean Brown having his probation revoked. Brown has a year to go on his probation for assaulting his on again off again girlfriend Singer Rihanna. Ocean and Brown are due to attend the Grammys and are even competing in the same category.
NeNe Leakes in on a roll. She is the star of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta, co starring on the NBC show The New Normal, and she is making money. After 13 years of marriage, she and her hubby Greg hit
a rough patch and announced plans to divorce. But now, after a trial separation, the two have reunited. Is her hubby Greg reuniting just because he sees dollars signs. Greg Leakes has been having financial
problems for a while. He most recently owed the I.R.S. $45,000. Bills! Bills! Bills!
Boyz II Men is setting up shop in Las Vegas. Starting in March, they will be doing a series of weekend concerts for the rest of the year at the Mirage Casino. The Philadelphia natives just celebrated their 20th
year as a group, and are also going on The Package Tour with New Kids On The Block and 98 Degrees. They are doing a show June 15th at The Wells Fargo Center.

Singers Chante Moore and Kelly Price are joining the cast of TV One’s R&B Divas LA, which is a spinoff from from the original R&B Divas reality show. Moore and Price are also appearing as part of the Soulful Sista's Tour. Singers Angie Stone and La Tocha Scott(Xscape) are joining the Atlanta version of R&B Divas. The new season starts in April.
The 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will air on HBO May 18th. This year's inductees include Donna Summer, Public Enemy, Heart, Rush, and special honors going to Quincy Jones and Producer Lou Adler. Summer, whose induction her fans had long called for, died in May from lung cancer. Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguilera will be performing in the Donna Summer tribute.
Prince is going to be the big honoree at this year's 2013 Billboard Music Awards. The show airs May 19th on ABC.
The 2013 Essence Music Festival is happening July 4-7 in New Orleans. Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole, New Edition, Brandy, LL Cool J, Mint Condition,“Uncle Charlie” Wilson and Maxwell are schedule to perform this year.
Mike Tyson is coming to Law & Order: SUV. Tyson is no stranger to acting. The former heavyweight champ appeared in the The Hangover and its sequel. Now he'll play a death row murderer on SVU.
The new season for Dancing With The Stars kicks off March 18th.
Before he returns to his role as “Lance” in The Best Man II, Morris Chestnut will first be with Oscar Winner Halle Berry in the thriller The Call. Jennifer Hudson's fiance David Otunga is also featured in the movie. The Call opens March 15th in theaters.
Filming has begun on a new Tyler Perry-Madea movie. A Madea Christmas could be in theaters for this coming Christmas holiday season. Perry is using a more diversified cast on this movie, including Lisa Whelchel (“Blair Warner” from TV's Facts Of Life) and Comedian and Country Artist Larry The Cable Guy.
Speaking of Tyler, just in time for the Easter holiday 2013, it’s his latest big screen project. Temptation: Confessions Of A Marriage Counselor stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Lance Gross, Vanessa Williams, Brandy and Kim Kardashian. The movie opens March 29th. Perry also has two new shows debuting on OWN. It's part of his exclusive deal with Oprah Winfrey's cable network. The Haves And Have
Nots is a drama about a family and their housekeeper, and Love Thy Neighbor is a sitcom set in a diner. Now speaking of Jurnee Smollett-Bell, in addition to starring in Perry's movie Temptation, she has signed on to join the cast of HBO’s True Blood, which returns in June.
Singer Keith Sweat is now an author. Sweat, the host of WDAS' overnight show The Sweat Hotel, has a new book coming out on February 12th called Make It Last Forever: The Do’s And Don’t's Of Relationships. So what makes Sweat an expert? He says he’s had girlfriends, been married, been divorced, he’s cheated, been cheated on, been in love and had true love. He says he has seen it all and wants to help others in their relationships.

The Lifetime movie Betty And Coretta starring Mary J. Blige and Angela Bassett will air on the Lifetime network this Saturday, February 2nd. Blige will play Dr. Betty Shabazz and Bassett will play Coretta Scott King. The movie will follow the lives of the famous widows of Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Actor Ving Rhames has joined the cast of the medical drama Monday Mornings. The show is produced by David E. Kelly (Chicago Hope, Ally McBeal, Pickett Fences) and CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Monday Mornings debuts February 4th on the TNT cable network.
Tami Roman, David Keith, Ella Joyce and Elise Neal will be starring in the TV One show Belle's. The show about a family running a soul food business, and it debuts this Friday.
Iyanla Van Zant is on the cover of the latest issue of Essence magazine. The second season of her hit show Iyanla: Fix My Life kicks off April 13th on OWN. In the new season, she squares off with Rapper DMX.

On Monday, March 18th, Latin Singing Sensation Shakira, who just gave birth to her first
child (son Milan), will join the lineup of NBC's singing reality show The Voice along with Usher. They'll join Judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Usher will also be starring in the movie Hands Of Stone, about the life of Boxing Great Sugar Ray Leonard.

Get ready for the Smiths! Will Smith reunites with his son Jaden on the big screen for the M. Night Shyamalan movie After Earth. The movie opens in theaters next June.
After 30 years, Actress Cicely Tyson is returning to Broadway. She makes her return next April in the production The Trip To Bountiful. Tyson plays an elderly woman who returns to her small Texas town. Vanessa Williams and Cuba Gooding, Jr. have also been added to the cast.
Actress Regina King is going to be all over your TV in 2013. Season five of her TNT drama Southland returns February 13th, and she is joining the cast of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
Kimora Lee Simmons has a new show launching on the Style network called Kimora's House Of Fab.
The R&B Music Hall Of Fame will launch new inductees May 5th 2013. New Inductees include Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, The Supremes, The Miracles and Ray Charles.
