Luther Vandross Dance With My Father Video

There are very few disc jockeys whose extraordinary style is matched by their great musical ear and an amazing list of celebrity interviews.
Barely out of high school, Mimi's radio career started in Philadelphia at a recording studio where she was discovered by the legendary East Coast disc jockey, Dr. Perri Johnson. Under his guidance, Mimi started out at a Philly hard rock station playing music from Led Zeppelin to Jimi Hendrix. Very quickly her musical talent attracted the attention of Bob Klein, the General Manager and Vice President of the pioneering top-rated radio station, WDAS-FM. There the R & B and highly funkified format combined with Mimi's musicality capturing the seventh largest market in the nation for over 20 years. Her smooth and sultry delivery, musical knowledge and interviews brought her the attention of listeners not only nationwide but around the world.
Mimi has worked every shift on radio from afternoons to morning and evening drive-time. Stacks of fan letters from Teddy Pendergrass to members of the armed services all mention Mimi's captivating voice. It is compelling in its ability to grip your attention while softly dangling you in suspense wondering what she will say next.
Mimi was also the first female Assistant Program Director in the history of WDAS-FM. Grammy award winning producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff selected her to narrate the Teddy Pendergrass album Live Coast to Coast which sold millions of albums worldwide. Her Friday night rap show was the launching pad for the careers of famed movie and recording star Will Smith who served as her guest co-host, along with his musical colleague, DJ Jazzy Jeff. Luther Vandross brought her flowers and sang live for the first time on any radio station for her birthday. Patti Labelle also celebrated Mimi's birthday, co-hosting, sharing the latest Hollywood gossip and singing live on the air. The phenomenally gifted writer/performer, Prince, gave one of his first East Coast performances at a party Mimi threw at the Emerald City in New Jersey. Queen Latifah hit the stage for the first time when Mimi brought her in to perform live at Club After Midnight in Philadelphia.
When it comes to interviews, nobody does it better. Mimi gets the most controversial questions answered while making it comfortable for the artist to open up. Such was the case during her interview with Vanessa Williams just after losing her Miss America crown while building a singing and film career. Here is just a partial list of the other superstars whom Mimi has interviewed: Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Patti Labelle, LL Cool J, Stevie Wonder, Barry White, Boys II Men, Babyface, Isaac Hayes, Gerald Levert, The O'Jays, Kool & The Gang, Sister Sledge, Jody Watley, Public Enemy, Run DMC, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, Ice T, Biz Markey, KRS 1, Heatwave, Smokey Robinson, Dionne Warrick, Parliament Funkadelic, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole and Mary J. Blige.
In the often blustering, bragging world of radio, many say they are great, but very few can back it up like Mimi.

Question? Where would you like to take a date?

MIND: Life has many roads of ups and downs. If you feel like you are in a downward state do not rely on your emotion or impulse before moving forward. Step back and take a look and see if there is anything you can change in what has occured or what can be changed in you. Do not play the blame game or be to hard on yourself. Seek someone with the wisdom to guide you to seeing some things you may have overlooked.
BODY: The body is amazing. It receives what you give it. What you put in it will show itself in one form or another. Treat it right by taking the time to consider what your eat, how many hours you sleep and how often you exercise. Cleanse the body inside and outside and that also includes how you think.
SOUL: Let go of worry for worry can take form into doubt. Reach higher and allow the world to unfold to you.
Celebrate the "Men" in your life, name one?

MIND: What you focus on will manifest itself in your behavior, what you pay attention to, your happiness and your joy. Learn new things. Feel and embrace a new day. Put your attention on things that really matter and see the wonderful change in you everyday.
BODY: It may not be as hard as you think to get your body where you want it be. Change happened to me just by working out a few days out of week over a period of a few months. What if I kicked it up a notch? Working out for a short time 15-30 minutes each day would have put just where I wanted to be, but I learned, just by doing something a few times a week made a big difference. Start now and walk, do yoga, Zumba, tennis, swimming, baseball to name a few, and see change take place in your body.
SOUL: Before looking at anyone else, deal with thyself.
