105.3 WDAS is celebrating Black History Month by shouting out some of our favorite sons and daughters throughout the month of February with The Pride of Philly…some of the biggest names in the world of music, entertainment, politics and the arts that hail from Philly or the surrounding Tri-State area.

FEBRUARY 14, 2022

Born Taalib Johnson, Musiq Soulchild is one of the primary voices to usher in the movement of Neo-Soul music that emanated from multiple Philly artists to begin the new millennium of music to start this century. His debut release, ‘Just Friends’ was featured on Eddie Murphy’s, “Nutty Professor” soundtrack in 1999, which led to his debut album, ‘Aijuswannasing (I Just Wanna Sing)’ being released in the summer of 2000. It was the beginning of 9 total albums with 4 of them going either Gold or Platinum. Born and raised in Philly, Musiq now resides and records primarily in Atlanta, GA with new music on the horizon from him coming later this year, and you can catch him tonight at The Met in concert with Lyfe Jennings to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
