(Washington, DC) -- A sweeping immigration reform bill is on its way to the House after passage by the Senate. The vote was 68-32. The bipartisan measure provides a pathway to citizenship for more than eleven-million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. Critics call it an amnesty bill. The legislation also pumps billions of dollars into increased security measures on the U.S.-Mexican border.
Immigration reform faces a much tougher path in the House amid growing opposition from conservative Republicans. GOP Speaker John Boehner has said the House will not consider the Senate bill. Boehner told reporters that House Republicans will craft their own legislation, grounded in "real border security."
